Municipal Sports Center "Athanasios Diakos"
On the outskirts of the city of Lamia, you will find the Municipal Stadium, which was built in 1952. Today, it has been renovated, and its capacity stands at 5,500 seats. It serves as the home ground for the historic football club P.A.S. Lamia, founded in 1964, while in the past, it was a free space for amateur sports activities for the citizens of Lamia. Many great athletes took their first steps in sports here, such as NikiBakogianni, the Silver Olympic Medalist at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. A visit to the sports center can be combined with a walk in the uphill section of Lamia that leads to the city's castle!

The Municipal Stadium serves as a hub connecting the people of Lamia with their athletic nature.
Located on the northern side of Lamia, across from the Municipal Hall, the stadium was built in 1952 on the outskirts of the city, near the green area of Galaneika. It is one of the gathering places for sports enthusiasts of all ages.
Over the years, the stadium underwent continuous construction, and after extensive upgrade and modernization efforts, the modern stadium was completed with a seating capacity of 5,500. Despite its initial name as the "National Stadium of Lamia," in September 2020, it was officially renamed in honor of the hero of the 1821 Revolution, AthanasiosDiakos, who martyred in Lamia after the Battle of Alamana.
It serves as the home ground for the historic football club of P.A.S. Lamia, founded in 1964, which has achieved significant success, especially in recent years. The roots of football in Lamia, however, trace back to as early as 1912 when football was first taught at the city's Gymnasium, and the first clubs were founded.
The facilities of the Municipal Sports Center in Lamia have always been used as a regular open space for the citizens of Lamia to engage in sports. Both football and athletics have brought great successes and notable athletes to Lamia. Here, the legendary Greek Olympic athlete, NikiBakogianni, trained while she lived in Lamia. She won the silver medal in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
