Artland “Chora”: Culture, Education, Gastronomy!
Artland "Chora" in Leleika Ypati hosts the Oiti Festival and experiential education programs. It is located at the foothills of Mount Oeta, just a stone's throw away from the plane tree forest of Spercheios.
Every summer, the "Chora" Artland hosts the Oiti Festival, which is a Member of the International Association of European Festivals and the Festival Network of the Ministry of Culture. As part of the festival, there are theatrical, dance, and musical performances, experimental music exhibitions, art events, exhibitions, competitions, banquets, workshops, seminars, cinematic retrospectives, gastronomic projects with themes from Greece and around the world, and many other activities. In addition, numerous annual events are organized, such as the Contemporary Art Meeting, the Cinema Project, the Festival of Young Creators and Producers, and the Video Art Project, all aimed at informing, sensitizing, and actively engaging with social issues of daily life.
The goal of the Oiti Festival is to stimulate and promote cultural life in the region, as well as to raise awareness among the local residents and visitors about environmental protection. The region's population is primarily rural and is engaged in sensitive areas such as the Oeta National Forest and the Spercheios Valley, both of which are part of Natura areas.
The Festival collaborates with various organizations and institutions across the cultural and social spectrum to cover as wide a range of interests as possible. Some of these include the Drama Short Film Festival, the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, the Embassies of Mexico and Peru, the ACCHA Studies Foundation, the Spanish-speaking Cinema Festival in Athens (FECHA), the French Institute, the Goethe Institute, the Athens Digital Film Festival, the Athens Video Dance, and many others. It is also the headquarters of Belle Arte Lamia, an organization dedicated to contemporary art!
